After the first 12 fixtures played in the Liga MX Clausura 2023, Esteban Andrada is the only member of Monterrey’s squad to have played every single minute.

The keeper, who was given the nickname Sabandija during his time at Lanús, is in a great moment of form which he confirmed on Saturday with a clean sheet against Tigres, Monterrey’s fierce rivals.

For Andrada it brought up his fourth clean sheet of the season - previously, he had not conceded in the games against Atlas, Querétaro and Juárez.

Defensively, Monterrey are one of the most solid sides in the Liga MX with just nine goals conceded so far - only León, with eight, have conceded less. Cruz Azul are the only side to have scored more than one goal past Andrada this season - beating him twice in the 2-3 defeat in Week 2.

A native of Mendoza, Argentina, the 32-year-old keeper is about to celebrate two years at Monterrey where he has slowly been building up a modest fanbase. The criticism he received when he first arrived has turned to applause.

During the Clausura 2023, Albiazules’ coach Víctor Manuel Vucetich has not changed his starting line-ups much and along with Andrada there are several players who have built up a lot of playing time.
