FC Dallas are already looking to the market to strengthen their roster for the 2024 campaign. After falling short last season, going out in the first round of the playoffs (in the third game against Seattle), the franchise want to compete again in the new year.

Inter Miami are the side that have earned the nickname of Goliath, the rival to beat after the signing of Luis Suárez. That is why in Texas the club are beginning to look at the market in search of reinforcements that can raise the level of a franchise that promised a lot in 2023.

Dallas set to go for Castro next month

According to Fabrizio Romano, Dallas will try to acquire Santiago Castro this January. The Argentine gem is coming off the back of a great year with Velez Sarsfield in Argentina’s top division, and has earned praise from all over the country.

However, the MLS side will not have it easy, having to fight against Bologna for his signature. According to Transfermarkt, Santi’s value amounts to $7 million, a figure that the team will surely try squeeze out of Dallas.

At 19 years of age, Santiago Castro has become one of the most promising players in the Primera División de Argentina. The striker started the season on the bench, but Velez’s delicate situation, fighting to get out of relegation almost until the end, helped him to have minutes.

MLS want to become the top league in the Americas

His seven goals in the previous season were key to the side staying up, having the record of converting 44% of his chances. From Argentina there was even talk of strong interest from the Premier League to acquire his services, with Brentford in pole position to sign him.

The plan from MLS is to become one of the best leagues in the world. The North American league has followed a complete plan, marked by signing both stars from Europe in their final years of their careers (with Messi as the turning point), as well as promoting young South American prospects.

Since 2021, MLS has been signing prospects from different South American countries with the idea of eventually selling them on to European teams, with Thiago Almada as the best example. The Argentine arrived at Atlanta United at just over 20 years of age and will leave the franchise as a world champion in what is expected to be the most expensive transfer in the country’s history.
