FC Dallas’ most expensive ever signing: Petar Musa to join from Benfica
FC Dallas continue to strengthen ahead of the new 2024 MLS season having reached an agreement for the 25-year-old.
FC Dallas are on the verge of signing the most expensive player in their history, with Petar Musa set to officially make the move to the MLS side.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Musa will move from Portuguese giants Benfica for a fee of €10m ($10.8m) plus €3m ($3.25m) in add-ons.
The 25-year-old forward has represented the Croatia national team on six occasions and joined Benfica from Boavista in the summer of 2022.
Dallas in Spain
FC Dallas are currently preparing for the new 2024 MLS season with a preseason trip to Spain. Last week, the club announced the signing of defender Amet Korça on a one-year deal, with the option of extending the move to 2025 or 2026.
FC Dallas preseason
Dallas continued their 2024 preseason with a win on Saturday, defeating USL Championship outfit New Mexico United 4-1 at Toyota Stadium. Head coach Nico Estévez set his side up in 5-2-2-1 formation, playing Herbert Endeley and Marco Farfan as wing-backs on the outside of three centre-backs.
“We tried different things today,” said Estévez post-match. “In the second half, we pushed our right-wing-back slightly higher to be more like a 4-4-2 in moments. It’s something that we learned from last year and are working on this preseason. I think we’ll take a lot of information from this game.”
