FC Porto keen on signing LA Galaxy’s Julián Araujo
The Los Angeles Galaxy player has been linked with a move to Porto.
Julián Araujo has been one of the most consistent players for the Los Angeles Galaxy this season and has earned three caps for the Mexico national team. The 20-year-old has woken the interest of several teams including Liga MX side Club América and FC Porto.
The Major League Soccer side is not keen on letting Araujo go during the summer transfer window because he is a key player and it would be too late to sign a replacement as the transfer deadline closed on 4 August. The immediate departure of the 20-year-old would affect the Galaxy in their aspirations to secure a spot in the playoff this campaign.
Araujo keen on making the switch
The Mexico international was linked to several clubs earlier this year and he was very vocal about his intentions of making the switch to Europe’s top tier in the near future so joining Club América wouldn’t be his priority and he could put pressure on the people in charge of Galaxy to let him go to Porto if the offer is right.
The Major League Soccer side could negotiate to let him stay on loan for the remainder of the 2022 season and Araujo could join Porto on 1 January. There are 11 games left for the Galaxy who currently sit in ninth place in the Western Conference. Their next game will be on 13 August against Vancouver Whitecaps.
