Five Mexican players to follow in the pre-World Cup FIFA break

As the preparations for Qatar are fine tuned, the matches that El Tri have in this break give Tata Martino plenty to think about.

The Mexican national team begins its last FIFA set of fixtures before the 2022 Qatar World Cup, which can be used for Gerardo Martino to clear up doubts ahead of finalising his squad list of 26 players. In these matches against Peru and Colombia there are Aztec players that we should keep an eye on because it could determine their place come November.

Edson Alvarez

The Ajax player has been present in several call ups for Tata Martino, however, he is still struggling to secure his place in the World Cup, so he will have to be put to the test against the South American teams in this FIFA action. His experience in Europe could be a factor that helps him on the pitch.

Carlos Rodriguez

Another of the players unsure of his place in the Mexican team is Rodríguez. Cruz Azul’s main man has shown his worth in attack on the field, so he could be a factor if awarded a place in the next World Cup.

Alexis Vega

Given Jesús Manuel Corona’s injury, Alexis Vega is shaping up to be his replacement in El Tri, however, he must pass the last tests that Tata gives him so that he can be eligible and thus take his position.

Henry Martin

The fight to lead the line of El Tri is fierce, since there are four in contention for the World Cup tickets without any problem. Martín has responded with goals for América and the national team, so he will have to maintain that pace so that he can have the privilege of being called up to wear the green jersey in Qatar.

Santiago Giménez

Another of the forwards who is bidding to stay in El Tri is Giménez, and he is scoring at Feyenoord which pushes him closer to the 26-player list. In addition to the fact that Raúl Jiménez could be left out for health issues, the little guy will have to win over Martino on this FIFA break so that he continues to consider him because he is a strong candidate to take one of the places in the World Cup.
