Florian Thauvin’s next move after leaving Tigres
Thauvin is a free agent after his contract at Tigres was terminated.
Florian Thauvin could be moving to Greece as he looks for a return to European football after leaving Mexican club Tigres.
Thauvin is a free agent after his contract at Tigres was terminated and Greek giants Olympiacos, Celta Vigo, as well as Serie A side Udinese, are reportedly interested in the 30-year-old winger.
“Club Tigres have taken the decision to terminate the working relationship with the player, Florian Tristan Mariano Thauvin,” Tigres wrote on their official media channels.
“We thank Florian for the effort and professionalism shown throughout the year and a half he played with us and wish him every success in his future,” the statement added.
According to Ignazio Genuardi, Olympiacos head coach Míchel and French player Mathieu Valbuena have both been in contact with the former Tigres man about a move to the club.
The right winger has previously had spells with French clubs Lille and Marseille, before he joined Premier League side Newcastle United.
Celta links
If Thauvin were to join Celta, he would arrive in Vigo on a free transfer although his salary does not currently fit with the salary cap available at the Galician club.
Only the departure of Spanish midfielder Denis Suárez would allow Celta to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window.
Thauvin was unable to make an impact in Liga MX and only managed to score eight goals in the Mexican top flight.
