Kylian Mbappé scored a hat-trick as France recorded the biggest win in their history with a 14-0 thrashing of Gibraltar on Saturday.

Nine Les Bleus players were on target after Ethan Santos put the ball into his own net with just three minutes on the clock in Nice.

Santos received his marching order after 18 minutes just as the rout began for Didier Deschamps’ men. By then, Gibraltar were already 3-0 down with a goal from Marcus Thuram and another from debutant Warren Zaïre-Emery, before he was forced off with an injury.

Mbappé 300

Mbappé scored a hat-trick, taking his career tally to 300 goals at the age of just 24. The third was beautifully crafted, surprising the Gibraltar goalkeeper with a 45-yard strike that sailed into the net.

The PSG forward’s third goal of the night saw him reach the milestone of 300 goals. Mbappé has 46 goals for France as well as 254 club goals between his time at PSG (227 goals) and Monaco (27).

France goals

Olivier Giroud scored a brace, one of them a bicycle kick, while Kingsley Coman also scored two more. Jonathan Clauss, Youssouf Fofana, Adrien Rabiot and Ousmane Dembélé were the other scorers on the night.

France’s best

The 14-0 thumping surpasses the country’s 10-0 win over Azerbaijan in 1995. France, who have already booked their place at next summer’s Euros in Germany, sit top of Group B ahead of their final game against Greece on Tuesday.

Gibraltar failed to pick up a single point in the group and have a goal difference of -35 from their seven games.
