Funes Mori close to making move to River Plate
The defender has left Cruz Azul.
River Plate boss Martin Demichelis spoke at a press conference after his side’s win over Banfield. When asked about the recent chance to add Benfica defender Nicolas Otamendi to his squad, he said: “The squad I have is important to me and I know how to value it. The time will come to talk about the window, when the season is over. It’s not fair to do it now.”
River are hoping to add to their defence and Ramiro Funes Mori is set to join the Argentine giants. The former Everton defender left Cruz Azul a few days ago, where he was on loan, and will be able to join as a free agent from Al Nassr.
Lanzini in talks with River
Another former River Plate player is being closely followed and, although his destination is not yet certain, he has the fans excited. This is Manuel Lanzini, who left West Ham and for now, rejected the proposals he received from Europe and the Middle East.
The talented 30-year-old midfielder has expressed on more than one occasion his desire to return to the club. Although there has not yet been a formal offer, there have been talks with him for some time and he could return after almost a decade abroad.
