Gerard Piqué to return to the game in a coaching capacity
The former FC Barcelona has outlined his plans to return to the game as a coach.
Former FC Barcelona central defender Gerard Piqué pulled on the azulgrana shirt as a Barça player for the last time in November 2022 as he called time on a glittering career that saw him play for the likes of Real Zaragoza, Manchester United but the player will always be linked with the Catalan club.
Since hanging up the boots, Pique has remained in the limelight due to his successful Kings League venture, his Kosmos media group, his spat with former partner Shakira and his acquisition of Spanish second tier side FC Andorra.
On Tuesday evening, the 36-year-old posted a message on his X account stating that he had plans to return to the game, not in a playing capacity but as a coach.
“It’s a new year and after thinking carefully, I have decided to return to football. I miss the game considerably. This time it won’t be as a player. It will be as a coach. I’ll share more details at the end of the week.”
Many in the Catalan city have long touted Piqué as a potential future president at FC Barcelona with his strong viewpoints on matters relating to the running of the institution and his passion for the club but this venture into the coaching world is a new development as we eagerly await further details from the former centre back.
