Giorgio Chiellini on the MLS Cup final: “It could be my last game”
The Italian defender says that the MLS Cup final could be his last ever game.
At 39 years of age, Giorgio Chiellini, who now plies his trade with MLS club LAFC, has admitted that his playing days may be coming to an end.
Los Angeles FC took a huge step forward when they were crowned Western Conference champions, defeating Houston Dynamo 2-0 and celebrating at home in front of a packed BMO.
MLS Cup final
Now, they are just one game away from beating Columbus Crew, winning the MLS Cup and lifting the long-awaited second title, a goal that the Los Angeles side have had since the start of the season.
Chiellini, who left Juventus to join Major League Soccer on a free transfer, knows that this could be his last game as a professional player, and he will be aiming to lift the cup.
“I have to understand what I have to follow: My head, my heart and my legs, a lot of different calls. It could be my last game, we’ll see,” Chiellini told reporters.
On Cincinnati
He added: “I think Cincinnati is by far the best team in the league. They were unlucky, but they missed a chance to win (the MLS Cup). They had the best in terms of quality and experience.”
