Gonzalo Higuaín named MLS player of the week
The Argentine won the award for just the second time in his career after scoring a hat-trick against Cincinnati.
Gonzalo Higuaín has been named as the best player for matchday 23 in MLS, after scoring a hat-trick on Saturday in the 4-4 draw against Cincinnati.
Higuaín, a former Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus and Chelsea player, among others, won the award for just the second time in his career, after taking it on matchday five from last season.
First half hat-trick for Higuaín
The Argentine striker scored his hat-trick in the space of half an hour in the first half of the match against Cincinnati, although he left the field with a bittersweet feeling, as his team, who took the lead three times, could not find a winner.
He is the second Inter Miami player to win the award this season, after Ecuadorian Leonardo Campana.
Higuaín has seven goals so far this season and his team are in eleventh position, three points behind the playoff spots. They visit the San José Earthquakes next.
