Graham Potter set to take over at Chelsea

Chelsea is in need of some new direction after Thomas Tuchel was fired. Is Graham Potter the man who will point them in the right way?

Update:

Thomas Tuchel was fired on Wednesday after Chelsea lost the game against Dinamo Zagreb. Now, they’re in need of some new, and better, direction.

Enter, Graham Potter. Chelsea is set to name Potter as their next manager, according to British media. Potter will join the club from Brighton and Hove Albion. He is set to join before the Blues make their way to Fullham on Saturday.

Potter was with Brighton for three years after joining from Swansea City. In his debut in the Premier League, Potter won 2-0 against Watford. The club then finished the season with its highest ever points with 41.

Before he was appointed with Brighton, the club averaged 42% possession and 75% passing accuracy in the EPL, but with his leadership, those numbers jumped to 52% and 81% respectively.

Last year, he broke that record again with 51 points when they beat Manchester United 4-0 in the Champions League. Potter led Brighton to 9th place in the EPL last season, their highest-ever English top-flight finish.

He already has four wins in his first six games on the season this year, which puts Brighton at fourth on the table - above Liverpool, Man United, and...Chelsea.

So is Potter the right man to get Chelsea back on their feet and out of this slump?

“The way you convince people in football,” Potter said, “is to win.”
