Greg Vanney demands leaders step up after Galaxy’s defeat against Dallas
The team with the most titles in league history lost 3-1 to Dallas in front of a sell-out crowd of 25,174 fans at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Galaxy is having a roller coaster of a season in Major League Soccer with highs and lows across the first 11 games. The team with the most league titles in MLS history suffered a 3-1 defeat against FC Dallas on Saturday night in front of a sell-out crowd of 25,174 fans at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Saturday’s match marked the 78th MLS regular season encounter between the Galaxy and FC Dallas, with the Los Angeles side leading the all-time series with 35 wins, 30 draws and 13 defeats. The Galaxy dropped to fourth place in the Western Conference on 19 points and a record of six wins, one draw and four defeats after Dallas’ victory.
“Honestly, it is what it is. Our group has been together more this year, so I’m curious to see how we bounce back in a quick turnaround and how we regroup. In the team, the group needs leaders to step up and corral the group. From us, in my perspective, I need to get us set up for the next game. The group has to internally respond as a group,” said Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney during the post-match press conference.
Douglas Costa scores second MLS goal
The Brazilian ace has struggled to adapt to Major League Soccer after his loan move from Juventus and injuries have prevented him from hitting top gear. It had been expected that the experienced Costa would make an immediate impact at the Galaxy, but he has only managed 10 games, eight as a starter, for a total of 612 minutes and two goals, with no assists.
