Gregg Berhalter calls up 23 players ahead of Germany and Ghana friendlies

The USMNT are set to play two high profile friendly games in the October window as they face Germany and Ghana’s Black Stars.

Gregg Berhalter has selected 23 players ahead of the two forthcoming friendly games for his USMNT side as they take on four-time World Cup champions Germany in Connecticut before heading to Nashville, where they face the Black Stars of Ghana at Geodis Park.

As hosts of Euro 2024, Germany have free international windows with the clash against Die Mannschaft scheduled for Saturday, 14 October in East Hartford, Connecticut with a 3pm (ET) start from from Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.

Berhalter and his team then head south to face the Black Stars with the first USMNT game to be staged at Geodis Park in Nashville. The game at the home of MLS side Nashville SC and starts at 8:30 pm (ET) on Tuesday 17 October.

Berhalter opts for continuity

19 of the 23 players called up this team were involved in recent friendly games against Uzbekistan and Oman with 13 of the squad involved in the US progressing to the Round of 16 at the Qatar World Cup.

“In line with our long-term strategic approach towards 2026, we have a great opportunity to play against two world-class opponents and continue to progress our group of players,” Berhalter said. “We are focused on selecting strong rosters and maintaining continuity as much as possible, and this is another important building block.”

Lennard Maloney gets his first ever call up with Miles Robinson the only MLS based player to be called up to the US squad this time.
