LIGA MX
Guadalajara off to rare perfect start in Apertura 2023
The Rebaño Sagrado has two victories in a row and is the early overall leader of the Liga MX competition.
Chivas has only managed to begin its participation in Liga MX tournaments with two consecutive victories twice in the last decade. Those have come in the Clausura 2019 tournament and now in the current Apertura 2023.
Apart from these specific championships, Chivas’ start has been somewhat inconsistent since Apertura 2013. The team’s worst starts were witnessed in the Apertura 2018 when they suffered two losses. They were defeated by Tigres 2-1 in the first match and experienced a 0-1 loss against Cruz Azul in the second.
Another notable weak start occurred in the 2015 Apertura tournament, where they were beaten by Veracruz 2-0 in the first match and again against La Maquina in the second.
Chivas’ start to seasons
For this reason, it is important to highlight this start for Chivas, as in the last decade its instability had been notable when it began its participation in the Liga MX and even in the Clausura 2017 when they recorded their last title. That started with a 2-1 win over Pumas and a 2-2 draw with Monterrey.
