Guillermo Ochoa, the third oldest player in Serie A

Guillermo Ochoa returned to Europe to take on a new challenge at Salernitana. The goalkeeper of the Mexican national team in Qatar 2022 recently signed for the Italian club and became the third oldest player in Serie A.

At 37, ‘Memo’ Ochoa is in the top three of the oldest players in Serie A, a league that has an average age of 26. Ochoa is only behind Fabio Quagliarella (39) of Sampdoria and Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, who is 38.

The top five is completed by Daniel Ciofani at the same age as Ochoa and Ciprian Tatarusanu at 36. Frank Ribery played one game at the age of 39 for Salernitana, but retired after.

Ochoa, Salernitana’s most experienced player

At Salernitana, Ochoa will be the most experienced of the entire squad with an average age of 26. Next to Memo is Antonio Candreva, who is 35. Fellow goalkeeper Vincenzo Fiorello is 32 years old. The 31-year-old Luigi Sepe, the first-choice keeper, is injured and the Mexican netminder, who signed a six-month contract with an option for a one-year extension, has been brought in.
