The 2021 Clausura tournament playoffs are set to start this week in the Liga MX with Club América going on the road to play against Puebla at Estadio Cuauhtémoc. The capital-based team had a rocky start to the tournament under manager Santiago Solari, but after parting ways with the Argentine, the team made a late push to finish in fourth place in the standings.

Guillermo Ochoa was a big factor for América to build character and have a strong finish during the regular season. Now they are aware that being the team with the most league titles in Mexican soccer, they will always be a contender to win it all tournament after tournament.

A Superclásico in the final

The Mexican international was interviewed by TUDN and he expressed his desire to face Chivas in the final in this tournament. “Honestly a Superclásico would be ideal, but we have to go step by step. That is how we improved this tournament and our main goal was our next match,” said Ochoa.

Fernando Tano Ortíz has been in charge of América since Solari was fired and there has been a real improvement in the team. Ochoa praised the interim manager for the job he has done in such a short period of time.

Tano is a very calm manager and he communicates peace to the players and gives them the liberty to do what they want on the pitch. Ortíz has given us a lot of confidence in each of the players regardless of who starts or not,” added Ochoa.
