Gundogan joins Barça, what will he earn with the Catalan club?
The Catalan club officially confirmed the signing of the German on a free transfer as he closes a seven year chapter with Manchester City.
Ilkay Gündogan is officially a Barcelona player. The recent treble champion with Manchester City has swapped the Etihad Stadium and moves to the Catalan capital on a free transfer.
The LaLiga champions confirmed the announcement via social media and the German international will sign with Barcelona on a two year deal with a further season as an option. Gundogan will earn 10 million euros gross per season with a 500 million euro buy-out clause.
After standing out with German side VFL Bochum, Gundogan moved to Nurnberg and made his big breakthrough following his 2011 move to Borussia Dortmund. In 2016, he made the switch to Manchester City for 27 million euro and became a key player for Guardiola. The midfield player is used to getting among the goals and leaves City as a Champions League winner following the recent Istanbul win over Inter Milan.
The 32-year-old will now be a lynchpin in the Barcelona midfield with the move to LaLiga offering a fresh challenge to the German international.
