Haaland a major doubt for Arsenal midweek clash
The Norwegian striker was replaced at half-time after colliding with Villa goalkeeper Martinez on Sunday with Guardiola affirming that he won’t take any unnecessary risks with the Norwegian.
Erling Haaland remains a serious doubt to face Arsenal this Wednesday, after retiring injured at half-time in the Premier League game against Aston Villa on Sunday.
The Norwegian was holding his thigh for several minutes after colliding with Villa stopper Emiliano Martínez in the first half. Haaland, who failed to score for the third game in a row was replaced at half-time by Julián Álvarez.
“I don’t know, he had a big knock, he was uncomfortable,” Pep Guardiola said after the 3-1 win against Villa. “We didn’t want to take any risks and we’ll do tests in the next few days. We hope he will be ready by Wednesday, but we’ll see”, added the Spanish coach.
Manchester City can top the Premier League table on Wednesday if they manage to beat Arsenal at the Emirates in a massive clash for both sides after the Gunners only managed a draw with Brentford at the weekend.
