Erling Haaland and Sam Kerr win FWA Footballer of the Year awards

Haaland has scored 51 goals in all competitions for City this season, as they look to win the treble with the Norwegian in attack.

Erling Haaland and Sam Kerr have been named men’s and women’s Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association.

Haaland won with a landslide 82 percent of the vote – the biggest margin since the Premier League began. The 22-year-old has scored a phenomenal 51 goals in all competitions so far this season for City, as they look to win the treble with the Norwegian in attack.

In his first season in the Premier League, he beat off competition from Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, who finished second and third, respectively.

City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne was fourth, while Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford came fifth.

Kerr wins women’s award

Kerr, 29, won the women’s award for the second season in a row. The Chelsea player’s ten WSL goals have the London club in with a chance of winning the league.

In an impressive campaign under Emma Hayes, the Australian also scored five goals for Chelsea in the Champions League.

Haaland and Kerr will receive their awards at the Landmark Hotel London on Thursday 25 May at a special Footballer of the Year dinner, which will mark the 75th anniversary of the award first won by Sir Stanley Matthews.
