Haaland investigated for consussing City mascot “Moonbeam”

Erling Haaland is under investigation following an incident involving Manchester City’s mascot, Moonbeam. According to reports in UK media, the woman portraying the mascot reported suffering whiplash and a concussion after being struck on the back of the neck and shaken by the Norwegian striker before a match.

City mascot taken to hospital

According to media reports, Haaland allegedly struck the club mascot, Moonbeam, before the team’s 1-0 Premier League win against Southampton on 26 October. The incident has only recently come to light in the press. The individual portraying Moonbeam, who works as a pre-match entertainer at the Etihad, required hospital treatment following the altercation and filed a complaint with Greater Manchester Police.

The club confirmed the incident but stated that the police decided not to pursue further action.

City conclude Haaland-mascot incident was accidental

A spokesperson for Manchester City told reporters that the club conducted a thorough investigation into the incident, reviewing video footage, and found no evidence to support claims that the injury was caused deliberately. The mascot reportedly admitted that, at first, she didn’t know what had struck her. “What on earth hit me?” she allegedly said to her colleagues after the impact.

Media accounts add she was taken aback when she discovered it had been Haaland. She informed her supervisor about the situation, explaining she had a headache and was feeling unwell. In response, her supervisor reportedly quipped, “At least you can say Erling Haaland hit you.”
