Haaland will break Premier League records, Onuoha believes

Ex Manchester City defender, Nedum Onuoha, believes Erling Haaland will break EPL records, but that he will have a tough time coming up.

Erling Haaland has had an incredible beginning with Manchester City. After transferring from Borussia Dortmund, he’s scored 23 goals across all competitions, including 18 in the Premier League. If he continues this way, he’s on track to obliterate the previous record of 34.

Ex Man City defender Nedum Onuoha believes Haaland can do it, but warns that it’s not going to be so easy. Following the mid-season break, Onuoha says the Norwegian will face much tougher competition and that they’ll have figured Haaland out.

“It’s very possible, but I think it gets harder the more time that passes in terms of being in the league, because people know how you operate,” said Onuoha. “They start to get a better idea of how to stop you, because City with a 6′4″ striker is a different look for most teams that played against them for the last six or seven years under [Pep] Guardiola.”

Onuoha also pointed out that Haaland has dealt with injuries in the past, and in order to break records, he’ll have to be available.

“It’s possible if he stays available and City stay dominant. But football is very difficult, especially in the second half of [a] season, where you start to run out of time,” said Onuoha. “The moment you start running out of time…the desperation kicks in, and things which maybe would have been easier in the first half of the season, all of a sudden, [are] a bit more difficult.”
