Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich seem set to part ways this summer after eight seasons of profitable partnership at the Allianz Arena and despite the Bavarian club looking to hold onto the prolific Pole, whose contract still has a year to run, the striker seems set on experiencing a different league and appears to have decided he wants a move to Barcelona. While Lewandowski’s agent has suggested a deal may be struck whereby Lewandowski remains at Bayern for another season and then leaves as a free agent, the player appears to be gearing up for a move this summer, as his interaction with Bayern fans after the final game of the Bundesliga season suggested.

Lewandowski open about Barcelona desire

Now, it appears that the gears may be in motion. According to German daily Bild, Lewandowski was involved in a telephone call that has all-but revealed where he will be playing next season.Robert Lewandowski was talking on the pone in the dressing room,” Bild reported. “Although the conversation was in Polish, there was one word that all of his teammates understood, even those with no knowledge of the language: Barcelona.” Several of the striker’s teammates heard Lewandowski mention Barcelona repeatedly and the Liga side have for a while ben considered the favourites to sign him if he decides to leave Bayern this summer.

Laporta: “It is not easy because of the financial situation”

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has not been drawn on his plans for strengthening Xavi’s squad this summer but confirmed that the club would be looking to add some new faces, telling Catalunya Ràdio: “We are working to be more competitive, but it is not easy because of the financial situation. We are also working to make the club’s economic situation healthy. When that has been achieved, we can carry out some operations.”

As well as Lewandowski, Barça have been linked with two Chelsea players - César Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen – as well as AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié. “If we manage to straighten out the club’s finances, we can go about all the operations we are looking into,” Laporta added.
