After 36 days off, the Monterrey roster has reported back for pre-season ahead of the 2023 Clausura tournament.

With preparation for the new campaign now underway, things are back in full swing at Los Albiazules’ El Barrial training complex, which has been rather quieter than usual over the last months or so.

The players will undergo a series of rigorous physical and mental tests in the first three days of pre-season, before travelling on Friday to Cancún, Quinata Roo, where they will spend a week doing some physical conditioning work.

Several Rayados players participating at the World Cup

Amongst the absentees from the training camp will be César Montes, Rogelio Funes Mori, Luis Romo, Héctor Moreno and Jesús Gallardo, all of whom are currently at the World Cup in Qatar with the Mexican National Team.

No changes to the Monterrey roster...yet

No transfers have so far been confirmed, either in terms of players arriving or leaving. New president José Antonio Noriega is, however, thought to going after different signing targets who Los Rayados are hopeful of bringing to the Estadio BBVA.

Paraguayan midfielder Celso Ortíz and Rodolfo Pizarro, on loan from Inter Miami, are thought to be on the way out the door; the duo are reported to be leaving imminently and announcements on their futures could be made in the next few days.

Víctor Manuel Vucetich tests positive for Covid
