The former Real Madrid player faces an uncertain future as he still looks for a club and retirement from the game at the age of 32 has not been ruled out.

An uncertain future lies ahead for Eden Hazard. Real Madrid surprised everyone in early June when they issued a statement making the Belgian’s departure official: “Real Madrid C. F. and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement by which the player is disassociated from the club as of June 30, 2023″. The club and the winger came to an agreement when it was clear that the Belgian had no future with the Bernabeu side despite still having one more year of his deal to run.

Since 3 June, there have been many rumors concerning the next destination of the Belgian attacker but as yet nothing has materialized. The team that showed the most interest in securing his services was newly promoted RWD Molenbeek. Eden’s brother Kylian currently plays for the Belgian side and despite the apparent interest no move seems imminent. There was also interest from MLS with Inter Miami interested in resurrecting the winger’s career but again nothing developed leaving the player still without a team.

Retirement is an option that is starting to gather strength as time passes. The multiple injuries suffered by the player in the past years have impacted heavily on his continuity and performances have been well below the levels displayed when the winger played at Chelsea.

Hazard and his family are well settled in Madrid and plan to live in the Spanish capital but with no team from Madrid (Rayo, Getafe or Atleti) willing to take a chance on the Belgian.

In the summer of 2019, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez paid Chelsea more than 100 million euros for his transfer and Hazard has proven to be one of the least profitable (at a sporting level) in history of the club.
