LEAGUES CUP
América forward Henry Martín could be out of action for one month
The Mexico international’s latest injury could be more serious than initially thought.
Henry Martín missed América’s last match in the Leagues Cup after injuring himself in the warm-up prior to the match against Chicago Fire and he was seen wearing an orthopedic boot during the match in the Round of 16.
According to Récord, his injury could be more serious than expected and a torn calf would mean 25 days to a month out. For the time being, the player remains at the team’s training camp in the United States and on Sunday, August 6, the club’s medical staff will determine if he will travel to Mexico to begin his recovery.
Gold cup winner
As a result, André Jardiné will come in for the match against Nashville in the Round of 16. Martín has not had time off so far this year as, once the tournament with América was over, he was called up to play with El Tri in the Nations League and the Gold Cup, winning the latter under coach Jaime Lozano, after Diego Cocca was dismissed.
