History favors América in CONCACAF Champions Cup
Las Águilas have not lost away to an MLS team in the tournament in six years.

The CONCACAF Champions Cup is Club América’s main objective in the first half of 2026. An international title remains the biggest missing piece for coach André Jardine during his time at the club, and this year he will try to change that. Las Águilas are already through to the round of 16, where they will face Philadelphia Union. While the team’s current form has been inconsistent, recent history in this tournament offers encouragement for the Mexico City side.
On Tuesday, March 10, Club América travel to face Philadelphia Union in the first leg of the round of 16 (kick off at 7 p.m. ET). The recent record favors América: the club has not lost an away match against an Major League Soccer team in this competition since 2020.
América have picked up positive results in their recent visits to the United States in the Champions Cup. In 2021 they traveled to face the Portland Timbers and drew 1–1. Later that same year they visited Philadelphia Union and won 2–0 in the semifinals. In their most recent trip to the U.S., they defeated the New England Revolution 4–0 away in the quarterfinals.
América’s last away defeat against an MLS team in the CONCACAF Champions Cup came in the 2020 edition. Las Águilas lost 3–1 in the semifinals to Los Angeles FC. The result ultimately cost coach Miguel Herrera his job, as he was dismissed from the club days later.
