BARCELONA
How long has Putellas been out injured and when was Barça star’s last game?
After a long recovery from an ACL tear, Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas is on the bench for the Catalan giants as they take on Chelsea in the Champions League.
Yesterday, Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas was given the all-clear to make her return to action, 295 days after she suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during Spain’s preparations for Euro 2022.
Will Putellas return for Barça against Chelsea?
A week after sustaining the injury at the start of July, the Barcelona and Spain captain underwent successful knee surgery - the first step in a long, arduous road to recovery. Today, when Barça take on Chelsea in the Women’s Champions League, Putellas’ comeback could be complete: it all depends on whether Blaugrana boss Jonatan Giráldez opts to give her a run-out.
The 29-year-old has been named on the bench for the semi-final second leg at the Camp Nou, which kicks off at 12:45pm ET.
A month to the day since Putellas rejoined Barça training, an expected crowd of around 65,000 supporters will be anxiously awaiting the return of the two-time Ballon d’Or winner.
