PSG beat Brest in Ligue 1 on Saturday with their two key forwards combining late on to collect the three points.

In the 90th minute of the encounter, Lionel Messi clipped a ball in behind the Brest defence. Kylian Mbappé timed his run to get in behind the opposition backline and powered through on goal before rounding goalkeeper Marco Bizot to score and seal a 2-1 away victory.

It was the 300th assist of Messi’s career. As the Argentinian’s career has progressed he has adapted his game to operate in a deeper role, where he has made a significant impact with his passing ability.

Of the 300 assists in Messi’s club career, 269 have come with Barcelona and 31 with PSG. The 35-year-old has become the first player to reach the milestone for assists created.
