EURO 2024
How many goals has Cristiano Ronaldo scored for Portugal?
The Al Nassr forward was on the scoresheet again against Liechtenstein, adding to his incredible international goal record.
Cristiano Ronaldo added to his international goal and appearance tallies as Portugal cruised past Liechtenstein in their Euro 2024 qualifier.
The Al Nassr forward made his 204th appearance for his country and played around an hour of the match.
Liechtenstein kept Portugal at bay for the first half but Ronaldo struck soon after half time to give the visitors the lead. He raced onto a through ball from Diogo Jota before rifling a left-footed shot high into the roof of the net.
Ronaldo’s goal against Liechtenstein extends his record haul of international goals even further. No other male player is close to the 128 international goals that the Portuguese star has now recorded.
Who has scored the most goals in Euro 2024 qualifying?
Ronaldo’s opener against Liechtenstein was his tenth goal in the qualification stages for the 2024 European Championships. He has reached that tally in just eight matches.
The 38-year-old’s tenth goal of qualification puts him level with Romelu Lukaku at the top of the scoring charts. The Belgian striker will have the chance to add to his tally on Sunday when his side take on Azerbaijan.
Behind those two, Denmark’s Rasmus Hojlund and England captain Harry Kane have each scored seven times.
Ronaldo could feature in upcoming Portugal schedule
Even before Thursday’s victory over Liechtenstein, Portugal’s perfect record in the first eight games of qualifying ensured that they had reached Euro 2024 next summer.
Nevertheless, Ronaldo has shown that he is very willing to play as many games as possible for Portugal and continues to feature from the start. He may well be called upon again for Portugal’s next fixture, a home game against Iceland.
Iceland, who were the surprise team of the 2016 European Championships, are already out of contention for Group J qualification. It could be an opportunity for Ronaldo to add to his incredible international scoring record.
