Haaland scored a first-half brace and completed his hat-trick in the 59th minute of the tie against Vincent Kompany’s Championship high-flyers.
It wasn’t the return to Manchester Kompany would have hoped for as Haaland ran riot for the second time this week.

Another Haaland hat-trick
The 22-year-old is in frightening form and scored five against RB Leipzig on Tuesday; City won 7-0 on Tuesday and 6-0 on Saturday - scoring 13 goals in less than a week.
Haaland deservedly picked up the Man of the Match Award as the rain came down on a wet evening in the northwest and City can now prepare for an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
Saturday’s treble was Haaland’s sixth hat-trick of the season. He has now scored 16 hat-tricks at club level and two with Norway at international level.
Many have questioned whether he was the right fit for City. He certainly is.
