Update:

The UEFA Women’s European Championships will take center stage this weekend as England and Spain go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned the continent’s best.

It is a meeting of two giants of the women’s game. England, the reigning European champions, take on the world champions, looking for revenge after defeat to Spain in the 2023 World Cup final.

England are looking to retain the European crown that they won in spectacular fashion three years ago, when they beat Germany in extra time to win the tournament for the first time. The 2023 tournament drew more than 365 million viewers around the world, while around 50 million people tuned in to watch the final at Wembley Stadium.

For context, the average TV audience for the 2025 NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers was 10.2 million, while the winner-takes-all Game 7 drew 16.4 million. That was the most-watched NBA Finals game in six years.

However neither competition comes close to matching the incredible draw of the men’s Euros in 2024, which drew a total television audience of more than 5 billion viewers across the course of the tournament.

The 2024 final drew a TV audience of more than 24 million in the UK alone, with a further 13.6 million watching on Spain’s RTVE broadcaster. The tournament also made waves in the United States with 6.43 million tuning in to watch Fox Sports’ coverage of Spain’s triumph in the final.
