How much did Drake lose betting on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid?

The Canadian rapper had his logo on the shirt and a big amount of cash backing Xavi’s team. Alas for him Madrid won 3-1.

Rapper Drake lost $600,000 ($833,000 Canadian dollars) in a two-fold bet today. The musician backed Arsenal to beat Leeds United, which they did, winning 1-0 at Elland Road, thanks to a goal from Bukayo Saka in the first half.

But unfortunately for the God’s Plan singer, things failed to go go plan on the second part of his bet, for Barcelona against Real Madrid, with Ancelotti’s side winning 3-1 at the Bernabéu to go top of LaLiga.

Drake had stood to win around three million euros if his bet had come in, but it’s the bookies who are celebrating this evening.

Drake logo on the Barcelona shirt

As part of Spotify’s sponsorship of Barcelona, the Catalan giants wore Drake’s owl logo on their shifts for today’s Clásico, but that failed to bring them luck as Benzema, Valverde and Rodrygo scored against them.

Drake’s sporting curse

This is the latest in a line of losses for Drake from betting on teams, and even from just appearing with a team or sports star, so much so that his backing is now considered to be a curse. He even went so far as to back the Philadelphia 76ers in their series against his team the Toronto Raptors. A trick that worked with the Raptors winning the series in the final throw of the seventh game.

Drake’s curse has also been said to have affected Paul Pogba at Manchester United, Wilfred Saha at Crystal Palace; PSG, being beaten 5-1 by Little; McGregor who was beaten by Khabib in UFC…
