How much do clubs make for reaching the Champions League Round of 16?
Bodo Glimt, Newcastle United, Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid all sealed their place in the next phase of the 2025-26 UCL on Tuesday night.


On Tuesday night, four teams (Atletico, Bodo Glimt, Leverkusen and Newcastle) successfully managed to negotiate the playoff phase and secured their places in the 2025-26 Champions League Round of 16. The second series of playoff games, slated for Wednesday sees the four winners set to advance from: Real Madrid-Benfica, Atalanta-Dortmund, Juve-Galatasaray and PSG-Monaco.

The stakes are high for all teams in the playoff round with being among the 16 best clubs on the continent bringing prestige, the chance to fight for the title and also a significant financial boost for all participating clubs.
All eight teams who progress from the playoff round will receive one million euros for winning this tie and another eleven million for reaching the last 16 as part of UEFA prize money.
In addition, all 16 existing sides will reap the benefits from ticket sales in the Round of 16 home games. On an average Champions League matchday, Atletico Madrid generate income of anything between two and three million for their respective home games with city rivals Real Madrid seeing average UCL matchday of 7/8 million euro.

When will the UCL round of 16 be played?
- First legs: Tuesday, Mar. 11 and Wednesday, Mar. 12
- Second legs: Tuesday, Mar. 18 and Wednesday, Mar. 19
When is the UCL round of 16 draw?
The knockout-phase playoffs conclude with four further deciding legs on Wednesday, before attentions turn to the round of 16 draw, which takes place in Nyon on Friday, Feb. 27, at 12 noon local time. In the United States, that translates into a 6:00 a.m. ET/3:00 a.m. PT start.
