Forbes has released its list of the highest paid soccer players in the world, a list that undergoes changes every year, and 2023 is no exception, as some of the surprise international transfers have generated significant changes.
For the second consecutive year, Lionel Messi is in second place on the list of the highest paid players in the world, however, there have been some significant changes.
In 2022, the Argentine World Cup winner earned $120 million, which was divided into $65 million earned on the pitch and $55 million off it thanks to sponsorship deals.
Now in the 2023 tally presented by Forbes, Messi remains in second place on the list, although his figures have changed following his move to Inter Miami.
According to the renowned website, Messi’s total earnings are $135 million, of which $65 million is from his annual salary with Inter Miami, while the former Barcelona star generates $70 million in off-field deals, thanks to his move to MLS.
