The national teams of Argentina and Uruguay have each brought 2,000 pounds (900 kilograms) of beef to the World Cup so that the athletes and support personnel may have a taste of home while the competition is taking place in Qatar.

In the instance of Uruguay, the Uruguay FA (AUF) and the nation’s National Institute of Meat (INAC) agreed to provide the meat for the whole competition.

According to AUF president Ignacio Alonso, the greatest nutrition is provided for the national squad. “The AUF is a historically influential ambassador for our nation and will bring with it another ambassador: Uruguayan beef, the greatest meat in the world.”

Asado is regarded as one of the most well-liked meals in Argentina and Uruguay, two of the world’s top meat eaters. The Asado is created from various meat cuts and sausages and then grilled.

Both teams have successfully kept the tradition of Asado at other World Cups.

According to INAC president Conrado Ferber, “the mate, the Asado, and football go together in Uruguay and are part of our culture. The World Cup is the ideal moment to do so since it allows us to emphasize the product’s natural and sustainable qualities.

The Uruguayan national team is now staying at the opulent Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, where they have already prepared their first Asado. The BBQ was overseen by Uruguay’s national team chef, Aldo Cauteruccio.

Argentina landed in Doha, Qatar, on Thursday and had an Asado to commemorate their 5-0 victory against the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday. The delegation from Argentina is made up of a total of 72 individuals.

Lionel Scaloni, the coach of Argentina, emphasized the use of the Asado to bring the team together.

The Asado is one of my favorite foods, but it’s more than that,” he remarked. “It fosters a sense of community and group chemistry.
