How much will Koulibaly earn at Chelsea?
The Premier League club has announced the signing of the Senegalese central defender, for whom they will pay 40 million euros ($40m) to Napoli.
Kalidou Koulibaly, now 31 years old, is a Chelsea player. The Senegalese central defender has signed for The Blues after the English club paid 33 million pounds (around $40 million) something that is seen as a serious investment to rebuild Thomas Tuchel’s defense, which has lost Christensen and Rüdiger, and awaits talks with Barcelona over Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.
Koulibaly makes Chelsea move
But it’s not only the transfer that has caught attention, as the salary will also be rather high as Koulibaly will earn 10 million pounds ($12 million), AS has learned. Although Nathan Ake has hardly shone since his arrival, Chelsea are now on the look out for another central defender to reinforce the team, with Koundé and Kimpembe on the radar.
That is the objective of Tuchel, who had 225 million euros to spend following new ownership, and who already has Raheem Sterling and Koulibaly closed off. Despite his age, the Senegalese center-back has signed for the next four years, until the summer of 2027.
Koulibaly landed in Naples in 2014, and since then, every summer he has been linked with a move to the biggest in Europe. The Barcelona rebuild had them included in the discussion this year but it was Chelsea that ended up taking the imposing defender, a reigning champion of the African Cup of Nations.
