The 0-0 draw between Tigres against Chivas represented the 28th tie in the first leg of the grand final in the history of the Mexican soccer leagues. If the rojiblancos prevail in the return match, it would be the 19th time that the visitors in the first game ended up being crowned champions, that’s 68%.

Liga MX finals on the edge

Obviously it represents somewhat of advantage in favor of Chivas to have come out of the Volcán alive and it would be the third time they have managed to win the crown if they are able to defeat Tigres on Sunday in the Akron stadium. The previous times they did so were in the Summer 1997 when they drew 1-1 at the Neza stadium and ended up beating the Mexican bulls 6-1 at the Jalisco stadium and in the Clausura 2017 tournament against the Tigres when Argentine boss Matías Almeyda prevailed.

So Chivas has the third chance on a silver platter this Sunday to become the 19th team to win the crown after drawing in the first leg of the grand final in the history of the leagues of the mexican soccer.
