How Real Madrid built a $350 million jersey, the most valuable in world soccer

Real Madrid’s commercial dominance grows with record-breaking deals from Adidas, Fly Emirates and HP, leaving rivals far behind in football’s sponsorship race.

Three partnerships. Roughly €300 million, about $350 million. And a commercial machine unlike anything else in global sports.

In modern soccer, the Real Madrid shirt has become a global asset as much as a sporting symbol. Adidas, Fly Emirates, and HP sit at the center of a sponsorship network that keeps expanding, pushing the Spanish giant further ahead of its European rivals.

Those three deals alone generate the bulk of the club’s commercial power. And they are not standing still. Each agreement has been renewed or expanded in recent years, reinforcing a system built on long-term relationships and escalating value. The result is simple: Real Madrid now wear the most valuable shirt in world soccer, and it is not particularly close.

Fly Emirates extends record partnership to 2031

On Tuesday, Real Madrid announced a new extension with Fly Emirates through 2031. It is a milestone deal, becoming the longest-running shirt sponsorship in LaLiga history.

The agreement gives Emirates naming rights on the front of the shirt, the most visible real estate in global club soccer, and includes additional logistical support such as a private fleet for team travel.

Financially, the jump is significant. Real Madrid have gone from earning about €70 million (around $81 million) per year to roughly €100 million ($115 million) annually from the deal.

Adidas locks in a 35-year relationship

Then came Adidas.

On Wednesday, the club confirmed a renewal with the German sportswear giant through 2034, extending a partnership that now stretches more than 35 years. The relationship began in 1980, and Adidas has been the club’s exclusive kit supplier since 1998.

The iconic three stripes are now inseparable from Real Madrid’s identity. Under the new terms, the deal is worth approximately €120 million ($138 million) per season, cementing it as one of the most lucrative kit manufacturing agreements in global sport.

Breaking a long-standing taboo on the sleeve

And there is one more piece to the puzzle: HP.

The American technology company represents another historic shift for the club. For the first time in Real Madrid’s 124-year history, a brand’s logo will appear on the sleeve of the shirt. It is a standard feature across much of world soccer, but until recently, it was something Real Madrid had resisted.

That changed in 2024, when the club signed its agreement with HP, marking a new era in its commercial strategy. The partnership is expected to run for the long term, with both sides reportedly highly satisfied with how it has developed so far.

Financially, the deal adds a significant new revenue stream, worth around €80 million (about $92 million).

No club comes close

Put it all together, and the scale becomes clear: roughly €300 million ($350 million) from just three sponsors.

That figure puts Real Madrid comfortably ahead of the rest of Europe. Manchester City’s shirt deals are widely considered the second most valuable, worth around €220 million ($254 million). Barcelona follow close behind at roughly €200 million ($230 million), with Paris Saint-Germain slightly below that.

The gap at the top, however, is Real Madrid’s territory.

Fly Emirates on the front, Adidas as a decades-long partner, and HP breaking new ground as a sleeve sponsor all combine to form a commercial ecosystem that continues to grow year after year.

In soccer’s sponsorship race, Real Madrid are not just leading. They are setting the pace.
