Now at the business end of the 2022 Liga MX Apertura, as the ‘liguilla’ action begins, more and more fans are being drawn in, keen to see the skills of the Mexican league for themselves.

USA embraces Liga MX amid broadcasting complexities

Unlike many other major soccer leagues were television broadcast deals are done on a league-wide basis, the bulk of Mexican top flight sides have secured independent deals with a series of broadcast outlets, making watching games a potentially complex affair. Each pricing structure will depend on your needs.

The likes of: Televisa, TV Azteca, Imagen Televisión, Claro Sports, Fox Sports, and ESPN have broadcasting rights in México, while ESPN Deportes, Fox Deportes, Univision, and Telemundo have the rights in the United States, with FS1/FS2 airing select matches with English commentary.

Watching Liga MX in the US

Following ones favourite team at home is a relatively easy activity as every fan will know of the TV deal their club have penned. Away games are trickier where fans will need to know if the club in question has penned a deal with the likes of Univision or TV Azteca.

Fans in the US looking to stream games, have most of the league covered with Vix with the platform holding rights to show approximately 75% of league games. However, due to their independent deal, if you are a US based Chivas Guadalajara fan, then you’ll need a contract with Univision (television) and a Peacock streaming service.

How can I watch Liga MX in the UK?

If you thought trying to follow, who is showing what Liga MX game in the States is a tricky affair, in the UK it’s another level of complexity with no single broadcaster or rights holder showing any Liga MX action. One Football showed games in the UK as did the likes of Footters briefly in Spain but now the only platform where UK based fans of the Mexican game can follow live Apertura action is via the online betting platform Bet365. Once again, the platform can only show certain games given their rights situation and the complexity of the deals involving Mexican clubs and users must hold an active account.

Should you have any doubt as where to watch your favourite Liga MX play, Live Soccer TV offers a game by game breakdown of what match can be seen on what broadcaster for a wide range of nations.
