How will The Weeknd concert affect Rayados vs Santos?
The Liga MX has proposed changing the venue for Rayados’ meeting with Santos Laguna at BBVA Stadium. A decision will be announced in the following days.
More itinerary changes in Liga MX matches... It seems that Monterrey will have to either find a new date or new venue for its next home game, corresponding to Week 10.
The game between Rayados and Santos is scheduled to take place at BBVA Stadium on Saturday 30 September, but the Albiazules may have to change venues. The request for the change is due to another event which will be taking place at the stadium a few days earlier. Canadian singer The Weeknd will be stopping off at BBVA Stadium on Tuesday 26 September - the first of two dates in Mexico on his After Hours Til Dawn world tour.
Little time to prepare for Saturday’s game
The production and logistics for a concert of this dimension are huge - a giant stage will be erected for the show then dismantled afterwards. It gives the Albiazules very little time to recover and prepare the pitch to face Santos less than three days later which is why the club would prefer to play the game at Santos’ ground, Estadio Corona in Torreón.
If the match is finally played at Santos’ stadium, next season’s fixture would have be played at the home of Rayados. The situation was revealed in the column written by Récord writer and TV Azteca commentator, David Medrano.
