Xavi Hernández gave his squad an incentive ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid. If they won the title, they would have two days off. And the Blaugrana coach kept his word, announcing during the flight back to Barcelona, that he was releasing the players on Monday and Tuesday, so they will not have to return to training until Wednesday morning.

Since Xavi’s arrival at Camp Nou, he has usually resorted to this type of initiative to motivate his players and keep the level of competitiveness at a maximum. The challenges can range from holidays to invitations to lunches or dinners. In the case of the Spanish Super Cup, it was no training sessions for two days.

Copa del Rey next

It is expected that the Blaugrana coach will leave more than one player in Barcelona for the Copa del Rey match to be played on Thursday in Ceuta. In the previous tie, the players left out were Pedri and Robert Lewandowski. In this one, it appears that the Canary Islander will be back, but not Lewandowski. Ronald Araújo could also be rested.
