Immediate challenges ahead for Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah with AC Milan
The return of the United States National Team players with AC Milan gives them two valuable opportunities to demonstrate the quality they have.
After having once again represented the United States National Team in the FIFA Matchday break with wins over Uzbekistan and Oman, Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah are back in Italy with AC Milan. The ‘Rossoneri’ face two massive challenges as they take on Inter Milan in the Derby della Madonnina and next Tuesday, they make their debut in the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League group stage against Newcastle United.
Both players will be instrumental in both games with both Milan giants leading the way after just three games of the new season. A win against Inter would provide the perfect tonic ahead of the European test against the Magpies as Newcastle make their return to the Champions League for the first time in twenty years.
Pulisic has played in all three games for Milan bagging two goals and keen to impress after a complicated spell in London with Chelsea. AC Milan may be without striker Olivier Giroud for both games as the French striker picked up an injury in the first match of the French national team’s game against Ireland in Paris. His absence will open the door to the likes of Noah Okafor or Luka Jovic.
Pressure on Musah
The American midfielder, who recently made clear his desire to play in both the 2024 Copa América and the Paris Olympic Games next summer, must now start to step at Milan and impress coach Pioli. Having only played for 24 minutes all season to date, the American international faces competition in the Milan team with the likes of with Rade Krunic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders or Tommaso Pobega.
