After several weeks of speculation and long negotiations between the parties involved, this Wednesday Inter Miami managed to complete the signing of Venezuelan striker Josef Martínez, who has shone in the MLS during his time with Atlanta United.

Through a series of posts on social networks, David Beckham’s team welcomed their new striker, who will take on the challenge of becoming the replacement for Gonzalo Higuaín and guide Inter Miami with goals to achieve their objectives in the 2023 MLS season.

Through a statement, Inter Miami informed its fans that next Saturday, January 21, Josef Martínez’s presentation will take place at the DRV PNK Stadium during halftime of the friendly match against the Vasco Da Gama.

Regarding Josef’s arrival at Inter Miami, the institution’s sports director, Chris Henderson, praised the Venezuelan, who has stood out for his great career and individual achievements including an MLS MVP award, a Golden Boot, an MLS Cup and a US Open Cup with Atlanta United.

Josef is a winner and adding him to our group is exciting for us as we head into the 2023 season. He is one of the best players in the league since his arrival and we believe he will make a difference here at Inter Miami. We’re bringing in a goalscorer with a track record of success in MLS. We are delighted to have a player like Josef in our attack”, explained Henderson.

What Josef Martínez said about the move

For his part, Josef Martínez said he was excited about this new stage in MLS with Inter Miami, a team that wants to become champion and turn into one of the most successful franchises in the league.

I am excited for the opportunity to wear the Inter Miami jersey and do my best. It is a club with high aspirations and that wants to be among the best in the league. I hope to help the team achieve its goals and leave my mark on this club”, explained Martínez.

The details of Josef's signing with Inter Miami

Despite the fact that Inter Miami did not reveal the details of the signing, reports from MLS specialists such as Tom Bogert assure that the Venezuelan will not occupy a franchise player position in the Florida team, so the club can still sign a star to fill one of those available slots. While at Inter Miami, Josef Martínez will continue to receive part of his salary from Atlanta United.
