Inter Miami close to signing Julian Gressel ahead of new MLS season
Inter Miami are close to signing an experienced MLS player ahead of the 2024 campaign.
Julian Gressel is very close to joining Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami for the 2024 campaign. As previously reported by AS, with information from The Athletic, Gressel is close to signing with the Fort Lauderdale side if all goes according to plan. As per Tom Bogert and Felipe Cardenas, the player is in the final stages of talks with the DRV PNK Stadium outfit and would join the club as a free agent.
Another aspect that is striking about the possible arrival of Gressel is that at some point he could be integrated as a right winger to allow Messi to play more centrally, giving the World Cup winner total freedom, playing behind the No 9.
How many titles has Julian Gressel won?
In Inter Miami’s quest to make serious strides towards the domestic title, in addition to having world-class players, it is also essential to have players who have already won major titles in North America in their ranks. That is why the possible arrival of the 30-year-old takes on greater relevance, as he has two MLS Cups (Atlanta in 2018 and Columbus in 2023). He also won the Champions Cup and US Open Cup in 2019.
Suárez nearing Miami move
The signing of striker Luis Suárez is also expected to be announced at the start of 2024 to bolster the MLS club’s attack.
