Inter Miami could play possible US Open Cup final at Hard Rock Stadium

Lionel Messi’s arrival at Inter Miami has generated a wave of interest as the South Florida club look at ways of catering for the surge of demand in seeing the Argentine at close quarters.

The club have 12 games remaining in the MLS season and embark of their 2023 League’s Cup this weekend as they face Mexican side Cruz Azul.

The best option the club have at securing silverware this season stems from the knockout US Open Cup competition after the Herons reached the semi-final stage of the competition where they face a tricky trip to Cincinnati in the semi-final.

Final venue

Jorge Mas (co-owner of Inter Miami) has confessed to the media that if the team wins the semifinal of the Open Cup and if Houston win their tie, the final could be played at Hard Rock Stadium in front of more than 65,000 spectators.

“If we are successful in the semifinals of the US Open Cup and Houston wins the other game, then we could play the final at Hard Rock Stadium,” said Mas, according to statements by journalist Franco Panizo.

When does Inter Miami play in the US Open Cup?

Inter Miami will play their duel corresponding to the US Open Cup semifinals on August 23 at 7:00 p.m. ET at TQL Cincinnati Stadium.

If they win the match and qualify for the final that match would be played on 27 September at a venue to be defined, but in the event that the finalists are Inter Miami and Houston Dynamo, this game could be played at the 65,000 capacity Hard Rock Stadium (home to NFL side Miami Dolphins) but if Real Salt Lake win, the side from Utah would have home advantage.
