Inter Miami draw a blank yet again

Another goal-shy performance from Tata Martino’s men who have now failed to find the net in both games against the El Salvador national side and against FC Dallas.

Inter Miami faced MLS rivals FC Dallas at the Cotton Bowl as part of the team’s second friendly preseason match on Monday night. On another frustrating evening for Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, his side toiled in front of goal, losing the game to a Jesus Ferreira goal for Dallas with the Herons having now gone 180 minutes without scoring.

Despite being the better side on the night, neither Lionel Messi or Luis Suárez were able to avail of the chances that fell their way with Dallas securing the only goal of the night after just three minutes. From then onwards, Miami looked better on the ball against FC Dallas and managed to fashion some decent openings in the first half but allowed the game to drift in the second.

After also failing to score in their preseason opener against El Salvador, you have to go back to mid-November to find Miami’s most recent goal. That came from Robbie Robinson, a late consolation in the ‘Noche d’Or’ game against New York City FC.

Arabia awaits

After the El Salvador and FC Dallas tests, the Herons now travel to Saudi Arabia where they face Riyadh based giants Al-Hilal and Al Nassr with the game against Cristiano Ronaldo’s already generating global headline with the game possibly marking the iconic Messi and CR7 share a pitch together.

The Inter Miami pre-season concludes with a game in Hong Kong against a select XI with the last test in Asia in Tokyo against J-League outfit Vissel Kobe.

Back in Miami, the MLS side conclude pre-season with a game against Newell’s Old Boys, the Argentine side where a young Leo Messi first broke through the ranks.
