Update:

The Phase One schedule for the 2026 Leagues Cup was announced on Thursday, revealing the first round of match-ups for the cross-border tournament. With the 18 teams apiece from both MLS and Liga MX, regional bragging rights will be on offer once again this summer.

Each of the 36 qualified teams will play three Phrase One games against opponents from the other league (MLS or Mexico). For Inter Miami, last year’s defeat finalists, the first round of games brings them up against some of the region’s most illustrious clubs.

Who are Inter Miami playing in Leagues Cup?

Inter Miami will take on Atlético de San Luis, CF Monterrey and Club León. All three games will be played in Miami, at the team’s newly-named Nu Stadium.

Inter Miami, Leagues Cup schedule

  2. Saturday, August 8: Inter Miami CF vs. CF Monterrey at Nu Stadium
  3. Wednesday, August 12: Inter Miami C vs. Club León at Nu Stadium

Inter Miami have a very real history in League Cup and will be looking to go deep in the competition again this year. In 2023, Lionel Messi made his Miami debut in the competition and made headlines around the world with a last-minute free kick winner against Cruz Azul. Messi led Miami to lift the trophy that year, securing the club’s first-ever piece of silverware with a win over Nashville SC in the final.

Last year, Miami came agonizingly close to winning Leagues Cup for a second time. The Herons made it to the final but were outplayed by the Seattle Sounders, losing 3-0 to Brian Schmetzer’s team.
