Inter Miami off to a flyer as St. Louis SC make history
Phil Neville’s Inter Miami are one of the four teams with two wins from two games in the opeing phase of the 2023 MLS season.
After two lackluster seasons as head coach of Inter Miami, could 2023 be the season when the former Manchester United player gets things right. Two wins in the opening two games of the new season with this weekend’s win coming over MLS Cup finalists Philadelphia Union has fans of the ‘Herons’ believing that good times are around the corner.
After beating CF Montréal in Week 1 of MLS 2023, Phil Neville’s men were too strong for the Union as the Miami side ran out 2-0 winners with the goals from Corentin Jean (32′) and Robert Taylor (77′) in their second home match at the start of MLS 2023.
The pink and black outfit now head to the Big Apple for matchday where there will face NYCFC on Saturday with the game taking place at Yankee Stadium.
St. Louis SC in dreamland
Expectation was sky-high ahead of St. Loius SC’s first home game after their opening day win away in Austin. A capacity crowd was on hand to witness a small piece of history in Missouri as they made it 2/2 with a solid 3-1 home win over Charlotte FC.
The new franchise join Inter Miami, Seattle Sounders and New England as the only MLS teams to have won both 2023 season openers as all four teams sit aloft the tables of their respective conferences.
