Inter Miami commercial director, Xavier Asensi, recently reported that thanks to Lionel Messi, the MLS club’s revenues in 2024 are expected to reach figures three times those initially expected. In 2023, the club earned $120 million, according to Apple TV journalist Bruno Vain.

According to what was shared a few weeks ago by Yahoo Sports and information from Sportico, this figure could exceed $200 million, which would become the largest sum for a team in the history of MLS.

It was even mentioned that thanks to Messi’s presence, Inter Miami would be one of the highest-earning clubs in the world. In 2022, Brazil’s Flamengo was the only team from the Americas to appear on this list of club-level earnings.

In 2022 Sportico valued Inter Miami at $585 million, making it the tenth most valuable club in MLS, and now with the presence of Messi, it could jump to the billion dollar mark, as Jorge Mas, owner of the Florida club, pointed out recently.

How will Messi influence revenue growth?

The presence of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner at Inter Miami has increased ticket sales for MLS matches, both at the DRV PNK Stadium and away from home, as well as the sale of official jerseys with Messi’s name and number.

Also, according to the aforementioned media, the sponsorship agreements include clauses that automatically increase the team’s income by having the presence of figures such as Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

New business

It is also worth noting that Inter Miami added a new sponsorship agreement, as after having the cryptocurrency platform, XBTO, the club recently added Royal Caribbean International to their list of commercial partners.
